This recipe for Greek Style Meat Sauce is 30 minute dish which infuses spaghetti Bolognese with the flavors of Greece.
This quick and easy recipe is a delicious homemade pasta sauce made with simple ingredients that are probably already in your pantry and your fridge.
I’m one of those ridiculous people who finds themselves inviting people for dinner at the last minute and being completely unprepared. I don’t know why I do it to myself.
Maybe I just like the challenge of looking through my kitchen and seeing what I can come up with for a dinner with guests.
Maybe subconsciously, but definitely not consciously.
My plan before I invited last minute guests was to make a Greek salad for dinner and burgers for my husband and son.
After I invited friends at the last minute, I realized I didn’t have enough of either to serve 2 extra people for dinner.
So, I grabbed the ground beef I was going to use for the burgers and the feta cheese, olives and red onions I was going to use for the salad and waited for inspiration.
A quick inventory of the pantry and I was well on my way to a meal. Chopped tomatoes made pushed me toward pasta and the rest of the ingredients told me Greek. I ran with it.
In no time flat, I had a fantastic dinner suitable for guests.
Usually when I’m searching my pantry for something to make with chopped meat and I come across canned tomatoes, I make my Easy Spaghetti Bolognese
but I didn’t have any fresh parsley or parmasean cheese. I took a look at my Greek salad ingreidents and knew what I’d do.
Greek food is very similar to Italian food. There are plenty of pasta dishes in greek food and they do many types of tomato sauce. So this dish isn’t far off from an authentic dish.
Oregano is a traditional greek ingreident and adding the olives and finsihing it off with feta cheese makes it real greek triumph.
My guests loves it and I’ll tell ya what, I think this one is going to make it on to my regular recipe rotation.
