I have a few big achievements this week. First, the flare-ups of my condition have gotten much more manageable. Instead of being out of commission for a day or two, I now flare-up the night I go to the gym and in the morning the next day. By the afternoon I’ve been ok. This is the first week I’ve been to the gym five days (achievement number two). I am really happy with this sort of improvement. Sure, I feel like I’m spending all my time either working out or recovering from it, but it’s getting better and that is progress.
Achievement number three: I have lost 3 lbs this week bringing my total for the month to 8 lbs! My bra is too big! Thank God for that because those babies were betting hard to carry around! 🙂 I was thrilled when I got dressed and noticed I didn’t fill the bra cup. I know a lot of people wouldn’t brag about such things, but as someone who spent most of my life with rather small breasts, this is definitely worth bragging about.
Achievement number four – I’m feeling better about mirrors. I’ll be honest, for a while now I have had my bedroom mirror (which is a free standing full length mirror) turned so that I didn’t have to see myself while getting dressed. This week, I turned it back. I don’t want to miss it. Everyday I make myself look a little longer and tell myself – ‘You’re making progress and it’s going to be a long road so, hold your head up high and be OK with who you are.’ Then, I look away and get dressed 🙂 I’ll tell you what – I could do with a tan.
As far as the Diet plan I’m following – It’s called Slimming World. It’s widely known in the UK and in the US, you can join online. I’ve been trying to get a hold of a representative to get them to work with me so that I can write recipes that go in the plan, but I have yet to get a response. I’ve called and emailed, but no-one has gotten back to me. As I don’t represent them, I can’t go much further, but check it out. It was the plan I used after my son was born and lost 50 lbs. I chose it because I can eat my sort of food without counting calories and I can adapt a lot of my recipes to be Slimming World friendly (the savory recipes anyway). You don’t starve so when you reach your goal, you don’t gain a ton of weight when you go off the diet. As a foodie, this is important to me, and when I’m stronger and able to blog full time again, my recipes won’t change and staying consistent for my followers is really important to me.
My next update will be in mid June when I reach my eight week mark. It was important to me during the first month to share it with you, but I won’t inundate you with it. I can’t say enough how wonderful all of your support has been. It’s really helped keep my spirits up and my eye on the prize – so thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
